This Week's Obsession: The Top 5 Characteristics of Luxury Goods

This Week's Obsession: The Top 5 Characteristics of Luxury Goods

When most people think of luxury fashion, they picture the heavyweights: Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton. But at More Luxury Club, we believe it's time to expand the definition of luxury—because true value today is not defined solely by heritage logos or high price tags. It's defined by quality, sustainability, emotional resonance, and purpose.

We’ve built our co-ownership model around these values, curating a collection of luxury goods that are not only beautiful, but built to last and worthy of being shared.

1. Craftsmanship and Longevity

Luxury starts with craftsmanship. Experts across the fashion industry agree: high-quality materials and superior construction are foundational. This includes durable stitching, premium leathers or textiles, thoughtful linings, and hardware that stands the test of time. These aren’t just features—they’re indicators of lasting value.

Brands like Metier, The Row, and Savette focus on meticulous detail and design integrity, creating bags that are meant to be loved, repaired, and rotated over decades—not discarded after a season.

2. Timeless, Intelligent Design

True luxury resists trends. While fashion constantly evolves, luxury designers often create pieces that exist outside the noise—items with clean lines, considered proportions, and enduring relevance. Experts now consider timeless design one of the hallmarks of luxury, as it allows consumers to invest in fewer, better pieces over time.

That’s why we include brands in our ecosystem that place design integrity above seasonal novelty—think Khaite, Lemaire, and Joseph Duclos.

3. Rarity and Emotional Connection

Luxury is also about emotional value. Psychologists and fashion theorists alike note that a luxury item often becomes meaningful because it’s rare, personal, or part of a life moment. Scarcity—whether due to craftsmanship, materials, or limited production—adds to its allure. That emotional resonance is what makes a bag worth caring for, repairing, or co-owning.

Our members often tell us they feel a deep connection to the pieces they co-own—more so than with fast fashion, because the item holds meaning, even when shared.

4. Ethical and Sustainable Production

Increasingly, industry experts assert that sustainability is no longer optional in luxury—it’s essential. Transparency, ethical sourcing, low-impact production, and circularity are now key factors in how we define modern luxury.

We spotlight brands that are leading this shift: from Loewe’s repair and reuse programmes to Tory Burch’s commitment to renewable materials and Tod’s support of local craftsmanship and longevity through their Italian ateliers.

At More Luxury Club, sustainability isn’t just a feature—it’s built into the model. Our platform reduces the need to overconsume by enabling members to share, rotate, and resell high-quality goods in a trusted ecosystem.

5. Exceptional Experience

Finally, luxury is about experience. Experts agree that seamless service, trust, and emotional satisfaction are part of what makes a product or brand feel truly premium.

That’s why our membership model includes insurance, maintenance, white-glove delivery, repairs, and expert care. You don’t just share a bag—you experience a better way of enjoying luxury.

A New Standard for Modern Luxury

Luxury is no longer defined by exclusivity alone. It’s about values, experience, and long-term enjoyment. At More Luxury Club, we curate for quality over quantity, elevate access through co-ownership, and promote conscious consumption by extending the life of every item in our collection.

Because in our world, luxury isn’t just about what you own—it’s how, why, and with whom you own it.

More quality. More care. More for the planet.

August's Fab5 Embraces the Autumn Classics with a Twist

With both feet firmly planted in Summer, we look forward to our favourite time for fashion, Autumn.  While we await what designers' have in store for us this autumn, we have made a selection that looks to classic styles with a twist.

First up is Saint Laurent's LE 5 À 7 large, but now in wood beads - classic style, retro materials.  We absolutely love it! And we're not the only one's see what Purseblog had to say about this rare beauty.  While it definitely has summer vibes, we believe it can be worn well into autumn and again in spring. The LE 5 À 7 is a classic, and the beads make it feel totally new and retro at the same time.

Next up is the Classic Cate Bag from Khaite, made in rust haircalf - if this doesn't scream autumn, what does? First off, the custom kiss-lock clasp is plated in 18k gold - remember when all of Chanel's gold hardware was gold plated? Love it! We also love the structure and the size, although it won't fit your laptop.

From haircalf to shiny brown leather with Givenchy's Medium Vouyou bag.  It's 15 x 11 in dimensions means you can fit a 13 in Mac Airbook in it! We love he adjustable shoulder strap allowing for crossbody carrying, the engraved metal buckles, and the reddish orange suede lining. Only downside we see is there's only one zipped pocket inside. Otherwise, a classic with an edgy twist, just gorgeous.

We think our next Fab5 bag could become Toteme's next 'It Bag', the classic T-lock clutch in woven leather. And it comes with a leather strap so it can do double duty as a shoulder bag or a clutch. It gives vibes of raffia but is actually woven leather. Right now it's only available in black, but hopefully, other colours will be forthcoming.

And last but not least, a new twist on Bottega Veneta's Knot Lock crossbody bag, now done is smooth leather with the brand's iconic motif. Everything about this bag gives off classic vibes with it's elegant knot closure and classic vintage handbag shape. We prefer this over the original done in Intrecciato leather.

August's The ONE - a bag too special not to be shared

Last week our designer spotlight foreshadowed this month's selection for The ONE, and we couldn't be more thrilled to unveil a piece that is, in our eyes, destined to become tomorrow's most coveted vintage treasure. Introducing the Saint-Clair bag by Joseph Duclos in the exquisite Arpège Rivière leather—a masterpiece that perfectly bridges the gap between storied heritage and modern desirability.

This remarkable bag takes its inspiration from the refined royal cases of the 18th century, which were renowned for their elegance and the aura of nobility they bestowed upon their owners. Every detail of the Saint-Clair pays homage to this regal past—its gracefully rounded yet crisp lines, the subtly playful textures of the supple leather, and a meticulously engraved clasp that catches the eye and invites touch. The result is a bag that rewrites the rules of timeless luxury, imbuing it with a unique, contemporary flair that stands out in any wardrobe.

Versatility is at its core: carry it elegantly by hand with the detachable leather handle for a classic, ladylike look, or transform it into a chic shoulder companion with the removable strap—ideal for those seamless transitions from day to evening. For an even more individual expression, accessorise with an optional braided or leather strap (available separately) that adds an extra layer of character and sophistication. The Saint-Clair is more than just a bag—it’s a future heirloom, a conversation starter, and the new standard for discerning collectors who value history with a hint of playful modernity.
