This Week's Obsession: Fashion Month's Spring Bags to Covet

Spring Fashion Month 2025 delivered an electrifying showcase of fresh ideas, bold colours, and cutting-edge designs that left audiences in awe. Across the fashion capitals—New York, London, Milan, and Paris—this season saw a delightful balance between innovation and nostalgia, with designers focusing on sustainability, artistic craftsmanship, and an evolving approach to personal expression. The runways were alive with energy, as each city brought its unique flair to the forefront, creating a global tapestry of style and creativity.

Accessories, especially handbags, were among the most coveted items, and this year’s collections did not disappoint. From oversized totes to intricately designed clutches, the variety and ingenuity on display were nothing short of spectacular. Each piece told a story, blending functionality with high fashion, making them the must-have items of the season.

Spring Fashion Month 2025 showcased a blend of soft sculptural silhouettes, eco-luxury innovations, and a sophisticated twist on Y2K glamour. Designers like Issey Miyake and Valentino embraced fluid, architectural draping, while sustainability took center stage with plant-based leathers and recycled materials. Y2K nostalgia returned with metallic sheens and asymmetric cuts, balanced by minimalist tailoring. Monochromatic neutrals, particularly beige and taupe, dominated runways, offering understated yet chic looks. Handbags evolved into artistic statement pieces, with bold, sculptural designs and eye-catching hardware taking the spotlight as the ultimate fashion accessories.

Spring 2025 "It Bags"

Tell us what you covet, and we'll add it to the voting

As we enter the autumn season, many of us our excited to bring out all our autumn wardrobe pieces - yet the fashion world is focussed on Spring 2025. We might as well dream on.

Handbags remain one of the most coveted accessories, and the Spring 2025 collections offered a stunning array of options for every style preference.  We were excited to see that Rosso Ancora is still going strong in the world of Gucci, with the new Gucci's 'GG Milano' shoulder bag which takes its name from the historic Italian city and fashion capital. What's not to love.

While some designers leaned into more commercial, wearable fashion due to a slowdown in luxury demand, others embraced bold, avant-garde designs. Among the most buzz worthy items? A refreshing new lineup of handbags – here are the standout designs, offering a glimpse of what’s to come in Spring/Summer 2025 from blogger PurseBop.

Bottega Veneta’s All-New Andiamo

Bottega Veneta embraced a playful approach this season, showcasing everything from plastic shopping bags to seating its star-studded front row on animal-shaped bean bags. The Andiamo lineup emerged as a standout on the runway, featuring the popular Long Andiamo Clutch alongside tote bags in various sizes. Notably, Bottega is shifting away from its iconic Intrecciato woven leather in favor of less stereotypical textures, including smooth leather and croc-embossed designs. The updated Andiamo tote now sports a new design feature — a Hermès Kelly-inspired flap that transforms it from an open-top style, allowing the knot detail and sliding crossbody strap to secure across the front. Additionally, a backpack alternative was introduced in the Intrecciato woven leather, further expanding the Andiamo collection.

Gucci Goes Retro with Horsebit Bucket Bag

Sabato de Sarno’s latest collection for Gucci spans from wearable to avant-garde, featuring everything from sleek trench coats to sheer fluorescent green dresses. Accompanying these striking ensembles is a myriad of handbags. Among the standout pieces is the iconic Jackie 1961, which was prominent throughout the collection, alongside a new bucket bag silhouette. Timeless in design, Gucci’s new bucket bag exudes vintage vibes, highlighted by its horse-bit bucket detailing. It was showcased in a variety of materials, including smooth leather, zebra-print pony skin, and combinations of canvas and leather, and features an adjustable shoulder strap for versatile styling.

Elevated Buckle Bag from Prada

Prada’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, under the vision of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, showcased a blend of modernity and sophistication, pushing the boundaries of quiet luxury to, well, not so quiet. A standout accessory is the Buckle Bag, elevated with a studded belt design that channels noughties vibes, replacing the plain leather fastening from previous seasons. Also spotted on the runway was a smaller version with a more bucket-bag silhouette and a single, longer shoulder strap, enhancing the Buckle bag lineup.

 Loro Piana’s Birkin-esque Tote

This season, Loro Piana appears to have shifted focus from its beloved Extra Pocket Pouch in favor of a new, somewhat familiar design. The brand’s latest tote bears a striking resemblance to the iconic Hermès Birkin, featuring two top handles, a flap-over closure, a padlock, a clochette, and four metal feet—elements we’ve undeniably seen before. The bag was presented in a variety of materials, including leather, suede, and what appears to be a wool and leather iteration.

Photos of these are not yet in the ether but look out for other favourites from this month include:

1. Balenciaga Crater Bag

Balenciaga continues to redefine edgy luxury with the Crater Bag, a sculptural piece inspired by natural rock formations. Crafted from sustainable, tactile materials, this bag features an organic, uneven shape with bold metallic hardware that gives it a futuristic feel. Available in neutral tones and bold hues, the Crater Bag is perfect for fashion risk-takers looking to make a statement.

2. Chanel Cloud Bag

Chanel’s Cloud Bag has already become a favorite among influencers and editors alike. With its soft, puffy silhouette and signature quilted texture, this oversized bag is designed for both practicality and style. Available in pastel shades and classic black, it offers plenty of space for everyday essentials, making it as functional as it is fashionable.

3. Gucci Bamboo 2.0 Tote

A reimagined classic, the Bamboo 2.0 Tote from Gucci pays homage to the brand’s iconic bamboo handle design. Updated for 2025, the new version features sleek lines, a more structured body, and a minimalist aesthetic, blending tradition with modern elegance. It’s available in various sizes and colors, including luxurious natural leathers and eco-friendly materials, making it a versatile option for both day and evening wear.

4. Hermès Plissé Kelly Bag

Hermès never disappoints when it comes to timeless luxury, and the Plissé Kelly Bag for 2025 is no exception. This season, the iconic Kelly bag was reimagined with a plissé (pleated) leather texture, adding an element of movement and depth to its classic structure. The bag retains its signature elegance but with a fresh twist, making it a true investment piece that will last for generations.

5. Prada Nyluxe Shoulder Bag

Prada continues to lead in redefining everyday luxury with the Nyluxe Shoulder Bag—a blend of its signature nylon material and luxurious leather accents. This bag is perfect for those seeking a more sustainable yet chic option. Its structured shape, comfortable shoulder strap, and sleek design make it a must-have for city dwellers and fashion enthusiasts alike. The Nyluxe Bag is available in various sizes, from mini to large, and comes in bold colors like electric blue and classic neutrals.

6. Fendi Tech Peekaboo

Fendi’s Tech Peekaboo bag embraces modernity with innovative materials and sleek technology integration. The classic Peekaboo design is updated with tech-friendly features such as charging ports and smart interior compartments for gadgets. With its structured silhouette and timeless style, this bag seamlessly merges fashion with functionality, catering to the needs of the modern, tech-savvy fashionista.

7. Loewe Origami Bag

Loewe continues to innovate with the Origami Bag, inspired by Japanese folding techniques. This unique piece features a geometric, folding design that transforms from a flat shape into a 3D sculpture when carried. Available in a range of colors and textures, this artistic bag is ideal for those looking to add an avant-garde element to their wardrobe.

One style that really caught our eye was this shopper tote (above) made from the softest calfskin. It’s got this cool wraparound clasp that echoes the belts we saw on the runway, keeping the whole collection in sync. Plus, the hardware finish is a nice touch that ties it all together.

We see that signature hardware again, drawing inspiration from their classic designs. The leather is super soft and luxurious, with a shiny finish that gives a nod to the 90s. And when you hold the bag, it forms this chic triangle shape, a playful reference to the iconic Prada triangle. We love it so we hope it makes next month's voting. Love It or 'Hate' It?--The Gucci B

Introducing the Gucci B, which draws inspiration from a 1950s archival style. This medium shoulder bag, embodying the essence of its mid-20th century origins, is crafted from soft grainy leather which drapes on the body. I was in the Gucci Flagship store last week and my salesperson, Rohit, was so excited to show me the Gucci B, in brown suede of course - a hot trend for Spring 2025. I was underwhelmed with the bag - as it didn't fit my personal style and I thought it was too big. BTW this is called a Medium shoulder bag. Wow.

Of course, I adore Gucci's Rosso Ancora, which the bag also comes in, but the bag was just too big for me. I imagine it would look amazing with someone taller carrying it.

Let me give you a little scoop on the Gucci B. With its structured, medium-sized shape and signature oversized Horsebit hardware, it perfectly mixes casual luxury with modern practicality. It comes in a variety of textures and colours, showcasing Gucci’s blend of heritage and innovation. Its sleek design fits right in with De Sarno’s vision of "casual grandeur," making it a chic and effortless accessory for everyday use. I can definitely see its practicality, but I'm still not a fan. I'd love to hear if you are!  Let us know via WhatsApp.
